If you have two microphones plugged into your computer, you may find it difficult to manage their input signals separately. Fortunately, VoiceMeeter can help you with such issues. This lightweight application is capable of mixing three different sound sources to an output of two buses, which can be routed to audio devices, like speakers or routed to audio applications, like VoIP clients.

VoiceMeeter is offered free of charge, without any hidden restrictions and fees, but you can make a donation, if you wish to support future developments. The setup package is roughly 7 MB and you only need to click a button to start installing the application. It takes only a few seconds to complete the operation, but you will have to restart your computer.

The user interface presents several control strips, for two hardware audio inputs and for a digital one. You can select different input devices for each control strip. After selecting one or more devices, you can lower or boost their volumes separately, set them to mono and make other adjustments. The application is not limited to microphones, so you can connect and adjust other devices as well, such as hardware players.

Besides hardware inputs, you can also manage a virtual input, from audio applications, such as media players. In this case, you don't have to make any selections. If you start playing music or other sounds in a media player, the application will detect the audio signal automatically. The same adjustments can be made to the virtual input, but you can also raise or lower its bass, medium or high levels. For hardware inputs, VoiceMeeter provides special effects panels. You can use them to make your voice sound unique, which is particularly useful when multiple people are chatting on Skype or other VoIP applications.

The application allows you to manage one or two output buses. The mixed sounds, from both audio devices and from the media player, can be sent to an application, speakers or both at the same time. What's more, you can lower or boost the volume for each bus separately.

Pros

You can mix sounds from three sources into a single signal. Each audio source can be adjusted separately and the output signal can be sent to speakers, applications or both at the same time.

Cons

You may need a few minutes to experiment with the application's functions. VoiceMeeter gives you a new audio experience, regardless if you are chatting on Skype, playing games or listening to music.
